One funnits detail when you mentioned that horses sense beginners and stop wanting to work. I have a chestnut mare Shetland pony who, as soon as I got too big to ride her, decided she was retired and didn't want to deal with experienced riders. She is the kindest doll in the world on the ground and an angel to any beginner, but the second someone is past the beginner stage she throws them.
