ultimately it goes down to whether or not people are confident that if they press the blue button, they'll reach over 50%. if the goal was to get over 90%, blue button pushers would most likely press red due to the very high risk. if the goal was to get over 10%, most red button pushers would most likely press blue due to the very low risk

There are too many people on earth to make these broad assumptions about who picks what. Do you genuinely think public servants, scientists, healthcare workers, etc don’t receive compensation for their work? There are billions of reasons why they might take up these roles and even the most altruistic of them all might pick red just because “I don’t want to die and there’s no way over half of humanity picks blue”. Knowing the sorry state the world is and the amount of suffering there is, much of which wouldn’t require people to risk their lives to fix, do you really think over half the population would risk the ultimate price for a chance at saving a perceived percentage of the population?

@y:I'd agure otherwise most people are fully functioning adult, and under circumstances to even have those categories that allows cooperation, and teamwork you need inherent trust from other party, and question doesn't state, or expand any other details than dilemma stated. "You need 50% blue to successfully survive, and unless other people don't press along with you it over for you, and if you press the red button you survive." So it is assumed that people in question, and you are stranger, and you cannot inherently trust any stranger since they have the free will to rationally, or emotionally decide, and see it only through thei point of view of that 50% their risk of failure, and death, and so most people pick red. people only work under first system because they live in society, and at individual level they need trust to survive, and to thrive, and their basic relationships, reactions that causes goals, and common interest between two parties to be shaped, and that not the case for this dilemma/question their bases of trust, but believing that people will simply press the blue button, and also you must also take into consideration that when this question is being asked it usually implies that all of humanity is decided wether, or not to press x or y option, and their bad actors from within, so that must also be taken into consideration as well. People also have lives, families, and friends they'll take about them, and they'll think about themselves not strangers first. their moral agurement of children being putting into such questions, and wether it be morally upfront, and fair to do such cruel deed, but that's wonder of question itself it actual raw understanding, and fear that we ourselves claim to be above nature, and to be above natural instincts, fears, and animalistic ideals where still animals, and that's not inherently wrong by itself, but it does make some people fear that reality.

Do you believe that 50> people would pick blue when shown 2 buttons, one that guarantees survival and the other being a death gamble?

I’ve watched this twice, and I feel there is no way one can really argue against your point of objectivity unless they accept that they are not choosing red blue because red is more logical, but because they're individualists before they are collectivists.

Yeah but if i press blue and it doesnt get a majority whos gonna take care of my dog, or what ab a mom whos worried her kids r gonna press red, people have living things that rely on them and imo its selfish to risk leaving them alone to not even influence the outcome in the end

Red pressers are already in charge at least in capitalist countries 😭 personally I’d rather persevere in a hardher world than just die outright. Also, esp w law enforcement, I think this slightly underestimates how many selfish people are in essential fields.
