In the swedish parliament, each party get’s a certain amount of seats in the parliament proportional to the amount of votes that landed on the party. The more seats a party has in the parliament the better because they’ll have a bigger chance of governing the country like they wish to.

that's why I like the australian process : each voter gives each candidate an order of preference. all the votes for the least popular candidate get transfered to their second choice. with the new result, the votes for the least candidate get transfered to their next preference, etc, until there's an absolute majority
