My mom didn’t go to college. I wanted to go to college so I worked at 15-17 to save for college applications, the week my friends and I planned to sit together and apply for colleges my mother drained my savings and paid the rent and went shopping with the money. When I asked for it back to apply for college she kicked me out. No I never made it to college.

I remeber when my mother told me she would buy my flight to Europe for my study abroad program (I never asked her to do that). Then like 2 weeks before I planned to book my ticket, she told me she didnt have the money and never will. luckily I saved up money to fund my tickets + entire abroad stay. If I believed her, she would have had me miss that opportunity I made for myself.

i used to make and sell friendship bracelets in middle school. made a little bit of money one day, told my mom about it, and she ended up taking it to buy food for the house instead of using that business idea i had to teach me to save. expressing how much she needed my money to feed us as if i should have been concerned with what was her responsibility . i never made anymore bracelets after that.

I had this conversation with my daughters dad. There will be no working while in high school and college, car and insurance is paid for by us, spending money provided by us. Her job is to be a student and get good grades. We have great careers to be able to do so.
