@orpatchy: I wanted to learn some carpentry, so I built this pergola from scratch. Well first of all, I should admit I didn't build this from scratch myself... my dad helped me because I'm just one tiny man who's abilities are limited, but nonetheless, we're both amateurs so I think it was an admirable undertaking. I don't know if you can really call this project a carpentry one because there probably wasn't enough carpentry involved for it to be classed that, but, if it can be considered carpentry, I think, in hindsight, maybe I should have introduced myself to the world of wood with something a little bit smaller, a bit easier, with less potential for causing impromptu father and son boxing matches. Naw naw I'm just joking, there were just a few measuring tape based disagreements. once the pergola was constructed, we then got involved with the patio laying, and this again, was an area neither of us had much experience with so there was a lot of googling, youtubing, and I should have probably watched a tutorial or two on the stihl saw because that didn't look good. slowly but surely though, it all came together and once the patio was all laid, I grouted it and hosed it down to make the colours pop. I'm very happy with how it turned out, now I just need to fix my bald grass and get some garden furniture so I can enjoy this space. #garden #pergola #carpentry
