@petermcginnes: Ever wondered where the saying, "my life flashed before my eyes" comes from? Here's what happens in your brain when you die 🧠 #neuroscience #brainfacts #psychologyfacts #braindeath #medtok
I don't whether I find this comforting or terrifying.

how is the human brain large enough to house a lifetime worth of memories? assuming a lifetime is anywhere from 65-80 years.

The more you study it, and seeing the absolutely massive complexity of it all, don’t you ever start to question whether at all developed out of chaos? Given just the laws of entropy.— we are all moving towards a more disordered state all the time— it does make me confident there is a greater power above us.

Peter, that’s actually kind of upsetting. There are certainly things that I don’t want to have to relive from my past.

A good reminder that what we experience as "self" is a dynamic, conditioned process rather than a fixed entity bc this suggests that autobiographical memory is not stored like files, but can be reactivated in highly integrated states when normal cortical regulation breaks down. From an Abhidhamma perspective, this is a powerful illustration that personal identity is an ongoing process of conditioned mental events arising and passing according to causes and conditions.
