Based on the large number of mission applications, balancing current missionaries returning home, the logistics of where missionaries are needed in the world, the costs involved, it has to be a computer algorithm that decides where a missionary will go. I doubt it is still based on a personal, human decision by a specific person.

This is so delusional. I can't believebi never saw Mormonism and it's leaders for the vaporware that it is. Someday I hope to get over the betrayal

This is actually a great reminder for how divine inspiration works. Normally it comes as a small feeling that can be difficult to recognize. You get them for things you have stewardship over. A new bishop might not trust that he’s guiding his ward right. This is a reminder than he has the authority to receive inspiration in his calling and he needs to trust it. So many people pray for inspiration then reject the feelings they’re given. Learning how to feel that inspiration is one of the most important things a human can learn. Great advice. The Spirit isn’t a magic 8 ball.

You nailed it. No decisions in the church are made out of divine revelation in my opinion. A bishop once told me callings are made out of desperation not inspiration

I think the issue comes down to whether someone believes God still works through imperfect people. Throughout scripture, revelation has often looked strange or unreasonable to outsiders: Moses and the burning bush, Naaman being told to wash in the Jordan, or the Israelites looking to the brazen serpent for healing. Many probably dismissed those things as foolish at the time.
For believers, missionary assignments aren’t about claiming leaders are magically infallible. It’s about trusting that God can guide His servants, even through ordinary processes, to accomplish His purposes. Faith has always involved acting on spiritual trust before having perfect proof.
You don’t have to agree with that belief, but calling it “of the devil” ignores how consistently God has worked through faith and imperfect human instruments throughout biblical history.

My buddy that’s been in bishopric was told to pray about callings and come back next week with names. He felt inspired to call two different people to certain callings. When he presented the names the following week, another member said “No, they definitely can’t be in those callings.” My buddy was thrown off as he was so sure he felt like it was inspired and a higher ranking member told him he. He wrote it off as “well, I just thought he must be more spiritual and has a better feeling than I do.”

They also ask where someone would like to serve so when people get called to places they have dreamed of serving…it’s not prophetic

hahaha look at all the prophets,.that's how it works, I always understanded that way... it's doesn't matter where you serve, you can do good anywhere, I can speak the will of God. I know what God wants for his children, and the plan he created. If A man wants to do God he can anywhere,.and there's more but the world it's not ready and some of us have speculated to much. The truth it's simple.

If a master hired a servant based off their experience and because they understood the masters purpose and view that master doesn’t have to micro manage and wisher everything in their year. Especially when the master is all knowing and all powerful, the process is about a selected leader under inspiration. What you missed of this conversation is that when the master wants to be specific or correct a specific assignment he could speak directly at that time. Instead of telling a prophet about how God works learn what he is teaching about how God works.
