We will look at what they mean and represent, how they fall in sequence within the chronology of these end time events. Because these particular scriptures are dealing with the end times, we know that the Jubilee calendar of course is not in effect here, therefore the 'day for a year concept' does not apply. These are literal days. Though Daniel does not state that the 1335 days are specifically the duration of great tribulation, we as the reader have to put some pieces together and understand the bigger picture. The views expressed concerning the 1290 days are speculative, in that we're not given many more details about it further in Daniel 12.
