Somebody’s got bad information. Medicare irma probably not going to $1,000.00 and that’s if you make $212,000 between your 63rd birthday and the end of year. Then it’s $212,000 per year. You can make a plan now you can take out $50,000 per year for two years and probably stay below the Irma. And yes prefaced contribution’s are taxed.

This is such an over simplistic, inaccurate view. Taking money out before 59.5 old is foolish, taxed at highest rate plus 10%. There is no tax free money.

It’s not a scam because you’re able to get that money tax-free and you’ll have more money upfront to invest which allows you to grow your retirement account even quicker. Of course, later on you will have to pay tax, but at least you were able to invest more money while you were younger and that’s the truth

It’s not an all or nothing situation. If your employer is matching then contribute up to the match. Some people won’t save a penny unless it’s drawn directly from their paycheck. Additionally IRMAA is one year at a time so not a life sentence.

My 401k is a Roth and taxed plus there are no fees. I also have a back door Roth IRA with low fees. Be cautious of the fees…even 1% can add up over time. The fact that a person is saving money is a plus. Just do your research.

Just pay off the house in smaller increments like 25k over 4 years not a big deal as long as he keeps his income under IRMA lowest bracket

Invest in Roth 401K up to the percentage that company matches. Then max out Roth IRA. Once Roth IRA is maxed and if you want to invest more go back and invest the remaining in the Roth 401K. Note that all 401k matching from your business is not taxed so becomes taxable when you withdraw it (the company uses it as a tax deduction). Make sure you withdraw that company matching last after 67. If you don’t it is considered income. Also Make sure the brokerage allows you to move it to a money market within the account. Then back to mutual funds or stocks. I.E. I transferred all assets to money market during COVID crash. Once it stabilized I moved it back into stocks and mutual funds.
