The monk doesn't hang on the wall; he crosses it diagonally fast enough that friction and normal force in each foot create traction before gravity drags him down. Each step lasts tenths of a second. After 4-5 steps, gravity wins — you need a ledge. Works on textured rock with low friction. Not on glass. Harvard biomechanics confirmed similar physics in 2014 studying mountain goats in the Alps.
