The biggest part of it being called Lagonda was because when it was shipped out to the UAE, where America was the Western Devil, they didn’t want any outward link between the car and Ford (who owned Aston Martin at the time). It’s also why, where most of the parts are Ford, the Ford badges are filed off from the back of all of the parts on the originals. However, they fail so regularly and are so diabolically unreliable (particularly the digital dashboard), that it’s likely most of the parts with filed off badges have been replaced with standard Ford parts.
