Must try FOODS of Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 I loved the food in Kyrgyzstan! Here is a list of some dishes not to be missed while you are there. Ashlan fu - the Dungan people are an exiled Chinese ethnic group who crossed the border from Xinjiang and settled in Karakol, in the east of Kyrgyzstan. They brought with them their food, namely Ashlan Fu - a dish more similar to chinese noodles and can only be found in this part of the country. Oromo - thin layers of rolled out dough filled with various ingredients rolled into a spiral and steamed. Kuurdak - meat + potatoes - potato is a new addition to the Kyrgyz cuisine in the 19th century, traditionally it was more mutton, horse, beef and offal cooked in animal fat with onions. Kumis - fermented horse (mare's) milk - national drink of Kyrgyzstan. Extremely healthy but for most, not extremely yum 🤣 I liked it. Maksym - Traditional drink made of roasted grains (wheat, corn or barley). Known as

Kumis - fermented horse (mare's) milk - national drink of Kyrgyzstan. Extremely healthy but for most, not extremely yum 🤣 I liked it. Maksym - Traditional drink made of roasted grains (wheat, corn or barley). Known as "liquid bread". You find it on the streets of every town. Maida Manti - can only be found in Osh, small little handmade dumplings that are vegan friendly. Chuchak - Horse sausage - horse meat and fat mixed with spices and encased in intestines, boiled and smoked. Kaymak - Sour cream type side. Osh Plov - Only found in Osh, it is the traditional plov dish made with Devzira rice that is only found on the floodplains of the Kara-Darya and Jazzy River. Very location specific dish. Plov - Classic rice dish made of meat, carrot, spices and fat. Jam + Tea - instead of sugar, Kyrgyz ppl use locally made jam to sweeten their tea. Manti - Steamed dumplings with meat and sometimes pumpkin when in season. Found throughout Central Asia. Laghman - hand pulled noodles stir fried with meat and vegetables - eaten at celebrations amongst family and friends. Found throughout Central Asia. Kurut - Dried, salty, cheese balls made from fermented milk. It is like a super food for nomadic ppl for its health properties and its longevity and ease of movement and one you can find in all yurts. Samsa - Savoury pie street food found throughout Central Asia. I loved em! Kyrgyz food centres around livestock, mutton, beef, horse and dairy. This is due to centuries of living as nomads on the steppe - always moving from one place to another as the seasons change. It is a fascinating cuisine, not for everyone but reflects the people on the land which is so special to me. #kyrgyzstan #kyrgyzfood #centralasia #stan #foodtravel #nomadiclife #culture #fyp #foodoftheworld #travel #foodoftheworld #kirgizistan
