Packing list, grocery list, extra stuff list, making sure everyone has the packing list, everyone has packed the packing list, making sure the grocery list is complete, shopping for the grocery list, packing the grocery list, thinking about what accommodations your destination won't have, packing that list, double checking all the lists, making a time of departure plan by working backwards from when you want to arrive, how long the drive is, how long it takes to load the vehicle, impromptu gas station visits, how long it takes you to poop while everyone waits in the vehicle, ok we should wake up at this time, but you will snooze 4 times, so alarms set at this time, ALL the arguing about ALL the mental work she has already put in, ALL the explaining of the mental work she has already put in, brushing kids teeth, getting them dressed, doing their hair, making everyone's water bottle/coffee, waiting in the vehicle for you to poop. After we get into the vehicle it takes about 30 minutes after the gas station fill up, that you did not think about ahead of time, for us to finally relax enough to sleep peacefully, all to be woken up with a I can't believe you forgot to pack...
