@utatune: A few days ago, Tatsuya Kitani celebrated his 12th anniversary in his music career! Kitani grew up playing in bands in high school, and later began releasing music online in 2014 as the Vocaloid-P Hello Tanita-san. Prior to his solo career, he also began playing bass as a supporting member of Yorushika, and was a former member of Sajou no Hana. In 2017, he began his singer-songwriter career under his own name, making his major debut a few years later. And while Kitani had already built a strong following, the massive success of Jujutsu Kaisen anime opening “Where Our Blue Is” brought him a new level of international recognition. Since starting his solo career, Tatsuya Kitani has collaborated with a wide range of artists, like his special unit GEMN with Kento Nakajima in 2024 (where fans even got to see him dancing!) And outside of his solo work, he’s also continued songwriting for other artists, most recently contributing to Ado’s World Cup uniform song “KIRA.” While many international listeners first encountered him through his anime openings and endings, I think his broader discography is really great and worth exploring too!
