@zeezee25: when shops aren’t wheelchair accessible 😅♿️ in my experience, most big chain shops have level access & accessible changing rooms, but it still goes wrong sometimes! this footage is from a few shops in the UK where i struggled to navigate with my wheelchair every shop is different, but there are a few big names which don’t always accommodate in my experience! 🙈 and in small British towns/villages, i can’t get into 70% of the shops and cafes due to steps 🥲 so i generally avoid small villages, and usually can’t get into charity shops or small cafes either (frustrating!!) this is why i stick to larger cities when travelling to new places, as it’s usually more accessible in “built up” areas! 💕 #accessibility #wheelchairuser #disabledcommunity #wheelchair #disability

I'm not a wheelchair user but have seen supermarkets with very wide aisles but then they stick an extra display in the middle of the aisle which causes issues for wheelchair users.

This is why I hate going shopping. While I can walk, I can't walk around my towns shopping centre easily. I can only walk short distances. I also don't have any power assists (I'm saving 😭) and that means my arms get tired quicker, especially with the uneven ground. Shops and shopping centres really need to think about accessibility😭.

I go to boardgame conventions and the paths there are also very narrow, you would thinks that they keep this in mind but sadly no :( Here almost all shops have a little step by the front door too 😭

Not wheelchair user but I use a walker specifically a crocodile walker and I know for a fact that I have to get out of it because it’s a stand in frame to be able to maneuver doorways I rarely use it. I haven’t even used the one I’ve gotten at home yet because there’s no point in trying for a typical day of going places.

This is why I opted for an electric wheelchair rather than an attachment because it has practically zero turning radius

Definitely report the accessible one being cordoned off! They’re legally not allowed to use them for storage but so many do

Older shops that weren't built with accessibility in mind or shops that are individual businesses and can't afford to adapt are one thing. But there are so many modern shops in new enough buildings that this shouldn't be such a widespread issue. Basic accessibility isn't hard to implement and there's really no excuse. As a paramedic lack of accessibility in public spaces makes our job so much harder when it comes to getting the patient out to the vehicle. Everyone benefits from proper design.

Yeah the narrow aisles!! So often I almost take a rack of clothes with me 🥲 also holy crepe have you ever been to Kruidvat when you’re in the Netherlands? They are notorious for their aisle clutter

Honestly I feel this so bad. Especially the narrow clothes aisles, just constant things in your face, knocking things off or getting clothes dirty with my wheels. Absolute sensory nightmare!

my local hm hangs clothes so close to each other that even a walking person who is larger can't fit really. I don't know why they do it's it must be a pain to hang up stuff and the store is more than big enough 😭 only go there to buy underwear luckily

It's sad this world is not made for disabled people. And stores and such are still made without disabled people in mind.

I would have told them to remove the storage so I could use wheelchair accessible room. I've come across this as a wheelchair user, and it is required that they have the space free at all times or have an equal alternative. I'm from America so maybe the laws are different, but you should not have to risk you health and safety just because you exist and you wanted to go shopping. you should have inform the manager of the overlook, I did, and even after a year the room has been cleared and I love to shop at that there...as a matter of fact its the one store I look forward to going to when I am at that mall...i have also seen other wheelchair users at the store...sometimes pointing out the unfair treatment could be a way to bridge those gaps. love your videos

a woman shouted at me yesterday because I accidentally knocked a shelf with my chair as if the issue wasn't that her shop layout ended up getting me trapped 💀

Accessible rooms should not be blocked off! They need to get actual storage areas or dont get more than they can store, i know they might get more not by choice but you shouldn’t have to use a small one cause they dont have a storage area
