I do believe that Nikkkiii actually did like bear at the beginning, that’s why she asked him to confess his feelings when he was dropping her off. But I also do speculate that Sarah had told her that she had feelings for a bear so therefore Nikkkiii never tried anything and that’s why she wanted him to confess first

it’s so confusing because so many factors play into her not liking bear as anything other than a brother, until she said ‘when I have a crush on a guy, nobody knows’ like why add that if it doesn’t mean anything 😭

Right except the actress herself said she believes Nikki did have feelings for him. I believe the movie was meant to never explicitly give us a clear answer, always eluding to one or the other. The way she seems genuinely curious about his feelings for her in the beginning seems to elude that she may. Her hooking up with Ian and finding out that she said she views Bear as a brother says she didn’t. However, she also stated that if she liked someone, no one would know and it also seems that Bears friends had their own agendas the entire time and were attempting to sabotage any relationship Nikki and Bear may have had.

I think the story was out of a place of resentment after everything. I think beforehand, she was somewhat confused about her feelings for him and that’s why she asked if he liked her as some sort of affirmation of her own feelings

it doesn’t matter whether nikki “liked him back or not” the simple meaning is you never know if u don’t tell the person and if he would’ve just asked none of that would’ve happened. there were multiple “bad people” in this movie.

i think it’s interesting that people have an adverse reaction to the idea that he may have liked him back a little. if anything, the concept of autonomy and freedom of choice is even more powerful in a story where nikki likes him back but he’s too afraid to even ask so he wishes for her love instead. it’s stripping her off her choice even if the choice she *may* have made was to agree on going to a date or something. it’s a tragedy at its finest no matter the lens you see it from when it comes to nikki’s feelings for bear. in one scenario, he would’ve made the wish because he’s a coward and have it be all for nothing, ruining what COULD actually have been a healthy love story. on the other scenario, it’s him knowing deep down that she probably doesn’t feel the same and choosing to wish for her love anyway, which is how we interpret the movie rn. both powerful and doesn’t take away from the validity of nikki’s suffering because of bear’s wish

How could Nikki not love bear. He’s so cute, he’s so sweet, his speech in the first scene melted my heart so much, I swear if anyone said those words to me I’d explode. I also think that Nikki actually DID like him because she did say “when I like a guy, no one ever knows,” so I think she was acting like she didn’t like him and friendzoning him because she was trying to hide it.
