@leahshomestead: We’re about to do something that makes me VERY nervous. 🐝😅 If you raise bees, you have to love them enough to get stung… because eventually you WILL have angry hives, bad days, and bees bouncing off your veil while you question your life choices. My husband is definitely the beekeeper on our homestead. I’m more like the emotional support assistant holding things and trying not to panic. 😂 Today we were releasing new queen bees into the hives and checking for queen cells. If you leave extra queen cells in there, the hive can decide to swarm or raise another queen, so part of beekeeping is learning how to manage the colony instead of just collecting honey. People romanticize bees a lot online, but there’s actually a lot to learn: 🐝 reading hive behavior 🐝 checking brood patterns 🐝 watching for swarming 🐝 knowing when a hive is stressed or defensive 🐝 and accepting that sometimes… you’re getting stung no matter how careful you are Still, watching a hive thrive is one of the coolest things on the homestead. #Beekeeping #HomesteadLife #HoneyBees #BackyardBees #Homesteading

Love honey but I could never have been hives. I’m highly allergic to bees.

No shade, its clear you’re not enthusiastic about the bee keeping. I like listening to your husband explain it. ☺️

That should help! If they are stinging through the suit you may try a different one. The white fabric ones work well for me

Could MOWING near the 🐝s be what made them sting-ie?? I know VACUUMING near GERBILS will make them CANNIBALS. 😩😩😩

a thick and tall hedge around the hives will greatly reduce bee attacks.
the idea is to have a screen to prevent bees at the hive from seeing you amd thinking you're invaders

couple of hours to chew through the fig? that may not he enough time for them to accept the queen. speaking from experience as a beekeeper. but if it works for you. great. good luck 👍

Could the mean bees be a result of the original queen mating with a killer bee drone. I do worry of that happening.
