This may not apply to the movie Moana cus I actually like that movie, but I feel like the fist consepts of almost every Disney movie is better than what they put out. The raw consept without any merchandise nor “what kids wanna see” thoughts behind it, just pure will in it

I think it was the write choice. Young women always need great representation and stories. Like Hercules, there just a to many stories to tell in order to make it correct and cohesive . For instance Aladdin’s Genie of the lamp and how he got to be one is several movies on its own. What Disney did on there version is just enough to make an impact.

I think the final movie came out perfectly. In fact it's probably the last good original Disney movie.💯 The live action is totally unnecessary tho,the original one is barely 10 years old. 🫠

As an indigenous person, the trickster (Maui) is central to most of our stories. So I did enjoy that it was about a woman and he was kind of a side character. Also, it was released the same year. My own grandma died and when Moana’s grandma said there’s nowhere you could go that I won’t be with you. I felt it.
