In 2017, I was a 100% bone marrow match for my younger brother, Mike, who was battling an acute form of leukemia. I donated marrow to him, and after hitting his 5-year remission milestone, he is now officially considered cured! It’s been 9 years since the transplant, and we are so grateful. 🙏✨ Because life got so crazy and busy after that, it had been many years since I actually went to stay at his house. But this past March, my 8-year-old son and I went to visit him. Mike had been baking sourdough weekly for the last 3 years, so I asked him to give me a sourdough workshop while we were there. We had the best weekend, and it completely reignited our connection. We now have a continuous chat going where we share tips, photos, and just laugh constantly. He was literally in tears laughing this weekend, calling me "so extra" because I brought my big bulk fermentation bucket to my son's soccer game because I was in the middle of stretch-and-folds and couldn't leave the dough behind! I joke with him that the student has now become the master, because over the last couple of months I have totally surpassed his sourdough knowledge! That's why I would be so thrilled to win this giveaway for him. It would be such a fun surprise to get a package in the mail to help up his game, and a sweet way to celebrate the hobby that brought us closer than we've been in years. Thanks so much for reading our story and for hosting this!

I started making sourdough because I love sourdough bread. TikTok videos encouraged me to get started. Using and maintaining a stiff starter has been a game changer for me and I thank you for showing me how to do it. I would be happy to receive anything, but bowl covers would make me deliriously happy.

I love making sourdough bread it fascinates me. I first started maybe last November I just wanted to see if I could get the sourdough starter going after about 18 days I did. it's been a great adventure ever since I'm retired I stay home I had an accident so I'm in a wheelchair and I have severe arthritis especially in one hand but this gave me a purpose I started making bread I don't sell it I give it away to my friends to my family to whoever wants a loaf of bread really I just enjoy making the bread it has given me a new purpose and even with my disabilities I'm able to do it which is amazing to me because no matter what happens to us we need to keep moving forward and that's what sourdough bread has given to me. I will continue to make sourdough bread for as long as I can. I would love the flour, banneton or the wire monkey goose lamb. really I would love anything that you would like to gift me.❤️

I started baking sourdough in February when my son was in the hospital for 4 months and it has become so therapeutic and fun for me. I make a loaf pretty much every day and it has become so important to me. My husband and friends all love to reap the benefits too. Since I’m new to this, I don’t have a lot of baking supplies and so many of those things would be so fun and useful for me to add into my baking 😊

I started making sourdough when my boyfriend’s A1C was 12.7. I knew he would be willing to give up a lot of things but bread was not one of them. I was out of work with a workplace injury and ended up having to have a knee replacement. I realized how much I enjoyed the process of sourdough and it gave me a purpose while I was healing. turns out I’m pretty good at it. Started at a small farmers market and things grew quickly. After my first market season I purchased a Simply bread oven and an 20 qt Estella mixer to meet demand and made a bakery space out of our den. I have now put a Bread Barn in my front yard so I can provide bread (as sweet treats lol) to my local community. I’m so proud to be amping all you great bakers and to learn from you daily through this little TikTok world! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us. I know how valuable your time is as a baker!

Hi Laila, I love baking it’s taught me patience, creativity, and how something simple can bring people together. Meeting you at Central Milling made it even more inspiring and reminded me why I fell in love with baking in the first place. Hope to join one of your baking classes all over again. Anything is appreciated! :)

Yesterday I put out my self-serve bread stand for the second time, and I almost sold out. I want to share my sourdough with my community and it gave me so much confidence that I’m doing the right thing!

I am lucky enough to know you IRL so I watched you start as this little creator to the absolute sourdough powerhouse you are now! You inspired me to start a little bread making journey! We make sourdough EVERYTHING! I love your cinnamon rolls especially. Now they’re the default when Dashy has a sleepover. I’ve had to send lots of his friends to your page cause they love them! I am probably disqualified cause I literally know you. But I wanted to tell you that you’ve absolutely inspired me and I appreciate you so much. Please sing more 🥰

I started my sourdough Journey in April of 2025. I was really struggling with the loss of my baby girl Camila. I lost her at 8 months gestation. My mental health was at its worst. I needed something to help me cope and navigate my grief in a different way. I had to slow down my brain & my thoughts. I started my own starter and it took me a little over 2 months to finally get an active starter that I was proud of. I baked my first loaf and never looked back! I now have my own little micro bakery here in SF, CA. I am also my neighborhood’s local sourdough dealer! My packaging is a soft pink, in honor of my baby girl. I strongly believe that this was my baby girls way of saving me 💕🫶🏼🥰

I started my own sourdough starter from scratch in January. I would not recommend that to most people since it was very stressful and I didn’t start making decent bread until April, but it really was a beautiful process for me. I slowed down and learned patience. I experience what it was like to create some

I have restarted my sourdough journey and would love any of the things related but the refrigerator thermometer would be a game changer since I always underproofed my sourdough. I would also love any of the extracts since I am big fan of baking too 🥰

Baking has always been my hobby since I was a little girl, recently I got into the sourdough craze but the tools and all the things to really divulge and do it on a weekly basis is a huge monetary commitment for this single mama. Receiving any of the items listed would be so exciting and help up my game a little more as I currently only have a few basics. 🥰

I am an EMERGENCY DEPT RN and I’ve decided to try my hand at sourdough content creating. My hope is to be able to pay off my mom’s mortgage who is also a retired nurse herself. She had to retire near COVID because of a cancer diagnosis. I am self taught and watching your page along with several others has taught me so much. I hope to at some point in the near future be able to help new up and coming sourdough bakers. I would love to be a recipient of your swag bag. Thank you for all you do

I just started my sourdough journey and have learned so much from you!! Thank you. I don’t have much and what I bought was the cheapest I could find, or I just use something that I already had. As everyone else is strut financially with our current economy, I can’t afford to buy extras. Making sourdough brings me so much joy! I know there are a lot of people

I would love a round wire monkey lame. Because I donate most of my product to my local community with a focus on making sure great food is accessible for everyone, I don’t tend to spend a lot of money on really quality product. I want to save where I can to allow the quality in the ingredients and beauty in things such as my scoring.

I like v this! I really want to try the stir stick I see you use all the time. I’ve tried using a bbq shiskabob, which works but I poke myself on the pointy end 😂 so I’m back to cheap plastic spatulas. I love your content so much and one day when I drive down from Humboldt, I hope I can meet you. You are brave, inspirational, and your content is a light in these dark times.

How fun! I would adore the sourdough starter. I find myself using chopsticks from my drawer on a daily basis. I think this would be a game changer for me.

I taught myself how to make starter > sourdough in December after I got fired from a job I loved & was great at. (I got fired for treating my awful boss w/the same respect he treated me with.) I was so down & defeated, I didn’t know what to do with myself. Every step that I was successful gave me such a sense of accomplishment I wasn’t getting anywhere else. Being able to figure it out (via TikTok & pages like this🫶🏽) was SO empowering. I really needed those lil wins on those days. Trust me, there have been twice as many fails along the way, but that’s been good for me, too. Keep trying. Don’t give up. Eventually you will figure it out, you always do. Now I can gift my friends, family & neighbors with little bits of homemade love on a regular basis & *that* is my favorite part about being able to make bread. Thank you for all your help along the way!
