cause the water isn't coming out cold lol. the amount of ice cools it down and keeps it cold. also, many places will bring a pitcher of water to refill the same cup which melts the ice down each time.

I don’t use ice when it comes to my pop, but when it comes to my water, I like it to maintain being cold. I don’t have a problem with my water being watered down , but I don’t really drink ice in other drinks.

Girl we also have different kinds of ice, lol. The “good ice” is the pellet kind that has lots of air and feels nice to chew. Have you gone to “Swig”? That’s the ultimate beverage shop.

You're meant to sip throughout your meal, so extra ice allows you more time with your drink at a nice cool temperature. also very cold drinks are much less likely to be chugged by the customer so theyll drink less in their meal, leaving more room for food (which the restaurant actually makes money on compared to water or soft drinks which are normally sold at a loss)

I like my soda watered down 😂😂😂so I ask for extra ice with water I like it bc I can chug it cold stays cold then melts more

If u have an issue with is just ask for no ice. It’s simple. In America it’s common to want a drink with ice. We like cold drinks.

When I went to Europe they gave me TWO CUBES every time, it actually pmo😭 I feel like I didn’t have a refreshing cold drink for three months. But to your question: A. We offer free refills at most places B. It actually makes your drink cold and refreshing. C. Alcoholic drinks are based on a shot size, measured the same every time, so “light ice” doesn’t give you more alcohol. D. To my last point, you can ASK for light ice ☺️

couple reasons 1) we like our drinks cold 2) our cups are HUGE to compensate for the ice so you still get plenty of beverage 3) national pride. Our ability to store and transport ice is a huge factor in how the US expanded west.
