The pant legs can't be made wider tho so the pants should be bought to fit the biggest part of you, sometimes it is the thighs.. 😄

I used to have to tailor my shirts myself in home ec because I was a lot bigger on top than the waist. So I had to buy the bigger size but it swallowed the rest of me. Used to have my friend pin me (following the line that was there but in more) with it inside out and then I would sew up the sides a little more.

Not a tailor but I do sew. Generally great advice but most important is to fit the largest part as anything can be made smaller but adding more fabric can be difficult to impossible. I'd also add that for pants the waistband isn't that hard but the fit on the hips is much trickier.

also, most tailors will leave fabric inside whatever they are doing, can usually let it back out if needed

you can ajust the length of the pants shoeless, if the bottom's touching the floor or slightly higher is the perfect size

I know when I worked retail we always fit to the biggest part and tailor everything else in. Like my brother has thick thighs and had bough to fit there then tailor the waist to fit.
