Fresh water is less of a conductor of electricity than salt water , ie distilled water is a poor conductor or acts more of an insulator. It’s the salts and ions in the water that conduct electricity not the water.

The marinas should have to have some kind of sensors they keep maintained so they know and can keep it safe.. Didn’t know about this!

Thank you for sharing this. I had no idea. Although instinctually, I’ve never really wanted to swim in the water in a marina. It just seems gross.

The water in marinas is almost always polluted so even if there isn’t a electrical hazard it’s still a bad idea to swim near one
