I learned Cornell notes in 8th grade they told us we HAD to use it in high school and they would grade our notes!!!

i was an all ap student who took regular ed physics my senior year bc ap physics didn't fit in my schedule and i felt like i was in a whole different world 😭 nobody paid attention, knew how to take notes, or how to take the tests. i was in shock the whole semester

I wanted to be lazy my senior year so I took "film as literature" instead of honors or AP classes. THEY WATCHED MOVIES AND THEN TOOK A QUIZ ABOUT IT. the teacher even let them sleep if they had seen the movie before. blew my mind.

I was always in AP classes. I remember I “didn’t feel like” taking AP statistics, so I took a gen ed math course. I was… shocked and so bored and regretted it every day 😭

PEOPLE WERE GETTING WORKSHEETS?! My sophomore teacher taught us to take good notes. He did this by having a very difficult open notes test. Then after he taught us how to note take he did another open notes test to see the difference!

I took a gen ed history class in hs b/c of scheduling stuff and the teacher READ OUT THE ANDWERS to the final the day before and told us to write them down to bring to the test with us.

Shoutout to the senior in college that told freshman me to take all of my syllabuses and write all the important dates on a one page calendar to predict how crazy a given week might be.

In my school if you actually wanted to learn you’d take AP classes, whether you could keep up for not, bc the alternative was playing on your phone while you’re teacher yelled at the same 5 kids for the entire class and never actually taught anything

My two youngest kids had wildly different experiences in HS. One was in all honors and AP classes. One was in all “regular” classes. One had homework and studying and exams all the time. The other never brought so much as a pencil to class. Same school, different levels, different worlds! (Both doing great BTW, one got her Bachelors in Nursing with a 4.0 gpa, the other went to trade school for HVAC. Both are successful in their fields) ❤️

I remember I left an English ap class to a regular English because it conflicted with my schedule. I felt like I went to a different planet. Reading everyone’s essays left me shocked. 😭
