@ashralouisaa: So this is something I just learned and it has blown my mind because people often tell me I am bringing things up randomly or unrelatedly, when actually I just think and make connections differently. Many people think linearly, following a clear step by step progression with ideas being obviously related. Whereas associative thinkers follow a non-linear pattern where thoughts are connected through associations that are not necessarily sequential or clearly related. In my limited research and anecdotal experience, this seems common amongst #autistic people! Though it is by no means exclusive to or experienced by all autistic people.
