Since so many people seem to be missing the point of my video, let me explain it one more time. The product being locked up was NEVER my issue. I have no problem paying for my child’s needs. The issue was standing there waiting for assistance while employees ignored the calls for help, to the point that managers were looking for staff themselves. If you’re going to lock up essential items, then there should be staff available to assist customers in a reasonable amount of time. Also, for all the Americans in my comments talking about EBT and WIC, we don’t have those programs in Canada. Please stop assuming every country works the same way yours does. As for the comments about theft: yes, stealing is wrong. If someone is stealing non-essential items, I absolutely don’t support that. But if I see a homeless person taking food or a parent trying to feed their child, I’m not inserting myself into that situation because I don’t know what they’re going through. I’ve known struggle, and I believe compassion costs nothing. As Proverbs 19:17 says: Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done. The most disappointing part of all of this has been the racism. I’ve received comments calling me names, comparing me to animals, and making assumptions about my character based solely on my race. That’s shameful. We can disagree about customer service, store policies, and theft without being racist. The video was about poor customer service and accessibility to essential products. That’s it. Not politics. Not race. Not whatever narrative some of you decided to create. Please do better.
