Always take a loan on 401k, don’t do a withdrawal. With the loan you are just paying yourself back with some interest so you can replenish your 401k. Thats what I did.

Those loans and withdrawals are the sole reason why I never had to ask anyone for anything as an adult. It’s kept some cushion money in my account so any emergency I encountered, I was able to take care of it easily. Every loan gets paid back within 12 months. I encourage everyone to contribute to it heavily.

I have 100k in mine. I have been buying and saving gas gift cards, Walmart gift cards, Food Lion gift cards, every paycheck for the past 5 years (to help me with basic needs when i retire). My car is paid off. Im almost 45 years old, all my sons are grown and I've been working for 30 years. im tired... next year I'm using 50k andbuying a piece of land and putting a singlewide trailer that i pay in cash on it and putting the other 50k up for taxes and electricity then quitting my job... I WILL NOT BE in my 60s 70s working....
