@vkhartmann: If you ever see two anesthesiologists enter your room to give you an epidural, tell them to gtfo 🙃🙃 Worst experience of my life all while being postpartum. This should be illegal #epidural #bloodpatch #spinalheadache #csfleak
A resident is not a ‘student’ . And this complication happens even when experienced doctors do it too .

You 100% signed a consent and it stated residents would participate in your care. If you did not read it before signing that is not on the hospital. Also residents are not students they are licensed doctors and this could happen with an attending and does! I am sorry you went through all of that I am sure it was painful and hoping you recovered quickly

A resident is not a student. I work on a L&D unit, and this happens with our very experienced CRNAs too.

All anesthesiologists were residents at one point, it’s part of training. If you deny residents you won’t have any physicians.

Residents are doctors. I think people get confused thinking this is like a medical student. Residents are doctors. Any provider can have this happen! Attending or resident, it happens.

Dural punctures are unfortunately a common complication with epidurals regardless of the level of experience of the provider. It can happen to anyone! I am so sorry you went through this.

Everyone wants an “experienced” attending, but that attending was once a resident learning also. If you want to continue to have those “experienced” attendings, you must also be open to allowing the resident to learn.

Residents are not students yall. They are DOCTORS! Any anesthesia you receive you have to consent to , meaning you understand the risks and this can be common unfortunately and happen with any provider 🥲

This can happen even from experienced anesthetists! Sorry it happened to you, but it IS a complication that happens often and not because it was a student.

If you don’t want residents, don’t deliver at a teaching hospital. Also, the residents do more procedures more frequently than the attendings

I’m sorry but calling a resident a student is just straight up disrespectful. We go through 4 years of grueling training then take 3 board exams BEFORE we can be a resident. Residents work 70+ hours a week with less than minimum wage and there is ALWAYS an attending present. Please don’t call us med students.
