This is what happens when departments rely too much on de-escalation. You ask me those four officers in the beginning should be charged with cowardice. They put not only themselves but civilians near by in grave danger for not acting

This is why I retired from police force ! I was trained that you Ask / Tell / than do ! The more you allow them to push the threats and not do anything you’re just letting that suspect escalate the situation ! And this is what happens ! Hope this officer gets the representation in court he deserves and beats this unfortunate charge !

while it may seem odd and didnt work in this situation, psychology has shown that in some cases, the male voice is aggressive to those in this kind of mindset, so the softer, female voice can have a calming effect and influence compliance. Its not 100% and this case is one of those times where it didnt work. justified ending. officer shoildnt be charged.

You know who was also charged with manslaughter? A man who intentionally shot and killed NYPD Detective Diller and went to shoot his Sgt when the gun jammed. It’s truly disgusting how judges and juries have politicized the criminal justice system. Using it as a weapon against law enforcement and the people it’s supposed to be defending. Just wanted to make a comparison to emphasize how absolutely ludicrous our judicial system has become.
