I tend to fawn so at first I'm like "no worries its cool!" and then later after decompressing and reflecting I'm like damn... that was like super not okay?!

I immediately go in to problem solving mode and either never have emotions about it or feel them when I replay it in my head a thousand times.

My first reaction after conflict it to try to fix it and calm the discomfort, and it’s not till days later I realize my actual feelings in the subject and the other person is taken aback because they thought all was good.

I thought alexithymia referred to conflating feelings? Is it both? I could definitely have a poor misunderstanding but for me, I do take a while to process feelings and label them but also sometimes I confuse being like tired and sick and sad for example

i feel the emotion but the sensation of impending doom over the situation i no longer have control over takes over whatever emotion may be present. need to let the wave past first

YES - omg I get this !! Different emotions have different places in my body, like fear and sadness are in the pit of my stomach, guilt in my throat, joy in my heart, and anger makes my head and chest heavy !! I like taking time to feel each emotion so I know where I feel them and can identify and process my emotions a little better the next time I feel them! I like how you went through a few emotions and tried them on, I’ll defo have to try that next time :)) Any tips for working through the stress? 🫶

I struggle with this. I ruminate on the problem/issue trying to solve it then my emotions spring back at me out of seemingly nowhere. This makes sense. Thanks friend.

My shower rants make sense. But it’s a cumulative series of “hmmmmmmm wait a second” that happens through the day/week and it bubbles up so much but at the same time I understand why so I can’t go through the eMOTIONS I really don’t even know what it feels to stay in one angry feeling for a while. I understand why and at the same time nothing at all

Thank you for showing this in such an authentic way. My process is slightly different, but I’m definitely gonna take some techniques from you because I think it would help me

Yes we have to go into our bodies bcz our mind wants to overthink in so many directions or mask as a protection. It takes me a while to feel anger but under anger is always what’s really there. Yup there’s disappointment

it's hard to feel when the instinct is to intellectualize the feelings first. I've been reading communication books and some mindfulness stuff to learn to slow down and identify the feelings first.

Same, and I feel trapped by it. The dissociation makes me feel like I'm not a real person.

i work with mine by using the fact that i can’t process emotionally in the moment to be strategic and then i try to gauge myself but honestly the emotional process isn’t something i can schedule so im just strategic until i break
