That's why you do a bulb check. When you put the key in run all the lights should light up so you know they work.

I mean wouldn’t you notice it right out the bat, every car you turn the key to accessory mode before turning on the engine all the inside lights turn on like check engine,brake, maintenance light etc. so you would definitely see those lights not turning on right ??

Always run a OBD test on it. Take it to your mechanic if you can’t to it on your own. Run Carfax which won’t help with light but do all your work before buying.
