Literally told my mom this. It’s been almost 5 years since I realized that I don’t want children and about a week ago my friend, who wants children, and I were talking about something embarrassing that my little sister was doing and my mom looked at me and said “you’ll understand when you have kids of your own.” And I looked at her and said “no I won’t. Because I’m not having children. It doesn’t matter how many times you try to convince yourself that I’m gonna “meet the right man” and he’ll change my mind about it all, I AM NOT HAVING KIDS!” She literally rolled her eyes and acted like I didn’t say a damn thing.

My mum actually has always known. I was three years old and asked my mum “do girls have to have babies?” She replied “no, girls do not have to have babies if they don’t want to.” To which I replied. “Good. I am never having babies.” She told me that was fine. I am 41 and my view on children has never changed. She did say when I was in my teens and early twenties that one day I might change my mind but if I didn’t, that was alright too. Once I reached mid thirties she told me she had started to realise that I would never give her grandchildren and she had made her peace with that.
