Ever since opening comms I haven’t done any personal art😭 just be sure to keep ur clients updated ! I made my TAT to 3 months so that i can get rest in between and u could probably do personal art in that time

Yes it’s such a struggle, but since I know myself I know to limit myself to 1-2 comms at a time and being so transparent with clients. The worst part is having to give up any leisure time to pull through though 😩 off topic but how big is your canvas!

sometimes personal art as warmup, then commissions mainly, then personal art in free time if I still feel like drawing. Then when commissions are done, take a small break. If you feel well rested, start again with personal art, and if you feel ready start taking commissions again

Keep them separate is what works for me. I don’t start new personal arts while my comms are open, and I generally try not to work on any ongoing personal arts while doing comms. I only have comms open for 1-2 month per year so this works for me, but it might not work for people who do comms 24/7. I’m not good at balancing anything, so all or nothing is the only method that works for me.
