@thechaosdiaries: Which do you prefer? ✨ Often when you see photos and videos of the rainbow mountain online you’ll be met with very oversaturated images like that first one - the reality is quite different and to be honest I much prefer the more pastel tones! If you’re looking to visit yourself, here’s everything you need to know about the rainbow mountain in Peru 🌈 Visiting this place was a real bucket list for me and I’m so thankful to have managed to see the colours of the rainbow mountain 🥹 here’s everything you might need to know about visiting (and some fun facts thrown in): 🇵🇪 In the local Quechua language the mountains name is “Vinicunca”, loosely translating to “black stone neck” 🎨 Vibrant colours are due to mineral deposits that lay hidden underneath a glacier until 2013, making it Perus newest natural tourist attraction ⛰️ The altitude is over 5,000 meters, so while the hike to the top is only around 30 minutes it is TOUGH and you need to be acclimated before trying it (do not do this day one in Cusco) 🐴 Linked to the above, if you need to you can rent a horse from locals at any point along the hike to take you near the top ☁️ As it’s so high weather can be unpredictable, changing rapidly from sun to snow in an hour - so be sure to bring layers and rain jackets! 📸 While you often only see the view in the first photo (and edited to look very oversaturated at that), the entire 360 panorama is gorgeous and the colours in reality are beautiful pastel tones 🚗 Situated around 3 hours from Cusco, the mountain is managed by 2 local communities - definitely book a guided tour who will manage everything for you and be on hand if you don’t feel well with the altitude 🌅 Try to book the earliest tour you can so you have the mountain to yourself, we woke up at 2:30am but it was so worth it! #rainbowmountainperu #rainbowmountains #rainbowmountain #peruadventure #perudestinations #cometoperu #peru #visitperu #travelperu #cuscoperu #cusco #vinicunca #vinicuncamountain #cuzco #sonyalpha #throughthelens #sonyalphafemale #sonyvisuals #travelpassport #theculturetrip #travelstory #traveltoexplore

the "vs" isn't reality. Your camera also doesn't capture the colour as it is. So there is no problem to adjust a little to be closest to what your eyes saw.
