I had someone try to return items they bought at an entirely different store because “you guys have a better return policy.” I don’t know what they thought “return” meant. I deserve an award for politely explaining that you can’t return a vacuum that you bought at sears to NOT SEARS.

I work at a bookstore that is NOT Barnes & Noble, but ohhh my goooodddd the amount of B&N gift cards people have tried to use is actually absurd. And then people get mad because, "How am I supposed to know?!" like our store name isn't posted everywhere, like damn.

I started telling people “I don’t know. I don’t work for them” when people ask if other stores at the mall close at the same time we do. i’m fully convinced people just think we’re a collective Mall employee network.

One time I had a man try and return a used backpack we didn’t sell him and give him a refund…. he didn’t even lie and say he bought it there. Just was straight up and said it was from a different store years ago and didn’t want it anymore but wanted a refund 😭

I had one come back 2 hours later and she even said “I didn’t want to come back and say this but I just felt I had to. You’re too preppy, and nice. It’s a lot, you need to tone it down.” ……. She thought about me being NICE to her, for two hours after our totally normal transaction that took 20 seconds at my til. Never in all my years of customer service have I gotten that complaint before 🙃
