DAILY DIGEST SUNDAY, 13TH SEPTEMBER 2026 TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME ✨ THEME: FORGIVE AS GOD HAS FORGIVEN YOU 📖 Scripture Focus Sirach 27:30–28:7 · Psalm 103:1–4, 9–12 · Romans 14:7–9 · Matthew 18:21–35 📜 Key Verse “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? … Not seven times but seventy-seven times.” — Matthew 18:21–22 🌅 WORD FOR TODAY Forgiveness is one of the greatest expressions of God's love. In today's Gospel, Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive someone who sins against him. Jesus responds by teaching that forgiveness must not be limited by counting. We sometimes hold on to anger, resentment and past hurts because we feel that forgiving someone means allowing them to escape the consequences of what they did. But forgiveness does not mean that the wrong was insignificant. It means we refuse to allow the wrong to control our hearts. The first reading reminds us that anger and vengeance destroy peace. When we refuse to forgive, we can become prisoners of the very hurt we are trying to punish someone for. Jesus' parable of the unforgiving servant reveals something even deeper: we are all recipients of God's mercy. The enormous debt we could never repay was forgiven by God. Therefore, those who have received mercy are called to extend mercy to others. Today, ask God for the grace to release every bitterness and resentment. Forgive not because the person deserves it, but because Christ has forgiven you. When we choose forgiveness: ✨ We break the chains of resentment. ✨ We receive greater freedom and peace. ✨ We become instruments of God's mercy. ✨ We stop allowing yesterday's wounds to control today. ✨ We reflect the heart of Christ. Beloved, stop keeping score. Place every hurt in God's hands and allow His mercy to heal your heart. Forgiveness may be difficult, but God's grace is greater than the pain. ✝️ PROPHETIC DECLARATION I receive grace to forgive from my heart. Every root of bitterness is uprooted from my life. I am released from the burden of past hurts. The peace of Christ fills my heart and my relationships. I will not be controlled by anger, resentment or revenge. As God has shown me mercy, I will become a vessel of mercy. Amen. 🙏 PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for Your endless mercy and forgiveness. Give me the grace to forgive those who have hurt me and release every resentment from my heart. Heal every wound within me and teach me to love with the heart of Christ. May Your mercy flow through my life and bring healing wherever I go. Through Christ our Lord.
