And I think one of the biggest blind spots in all the online ~TrAuMa Disc0urse~ is that those of us with a high number of adverse childhood experiences, CPTSD, etc are so likely to develop these cluster B habits and even to become abusers ourselves if we don’t get unstuck in time and start processing and healing the thing that hurt us. The internet divides people into victims vs narcs when in fact a lot of the time the calls are coming from inside the house and a lot of abuse survivors who are not able to do the work to help themselves heal are so attached to victimhood they become abusers who are convinced there

Static Diamond :
A therapist I had a long time ago would say mental illness, trauma responses, etc are explanations for behaviors/actions, they are not excuses. This was in relationship to both my own behaviors as well as my abusive partner’s behaviors. Basically, just cause you have problems doesn’t mean you can do/say/act however you please. Your problems may be the reason behind certain things, but it doesn’t excuse them.
