as a person of color, I would very much thank you for trying, but do be careful to explain black pain as a white man. it gets bad real quick, especially once you realize blackness is a spectrum and formed by historical reasons in America. it hit me real quick as a person not from America that this is about american systems of value and their history which again is but a speck next to the billions of people of color out there outside of America. I will also admit African American people also struggle with this. the world and racism is not centered on America only but throughout the world

I have a situation, I am a white guy who grew up under an interracial household and family. Sometimes I don't know how to talk about my life, I am especially picky and with who I talk to because I know white people who run with it in a way that makes me feel gross for even saying anything.. I think about this concept you talk about a lot and idk quite how to navigate it.

I was in a foster home with a black family, I went to a predominantly black school for a while, went to a Baptist Church, and I will say this, when I was there, I didn’t think about color one time, mostly because I was young, but also because nobody around me mentioned it, and you think they would have with me being the only toe-headed white boy smack dab in the middle of a black family with four kids.

“Bro” is now competing with “guy” & “dude” for generic vernacular status, and this really annoys me. Lily white frat boys referring to each other as “bro” was grating, but now it’s everyone. And they still don’t see it. Everything we love about US culture originated with black people.

Everyone uses everyone's wisdom. Condemning such a practice divides people further and prevents the natural balance that would occur. Like heat transference, equilibrium is achieved by the absorption of heat from those that do not have it, and the expulsion of heat from that which does, in parts first and them more over time, so also people need to let go of cultural identity as if they still lived in the segregated past, and allow the traits of one to be adopted by others, and they can use that common ground to create a new culture that is not us and them. Eliminate credit-based thinking, for no one accomplishes any creation without first absorbing the ideas of those around them. This idea of not letting one group absorb the ways of others is like preventing a child from learning because it wasn't their parents that made the books, which only creates division and resentment, and does the opposite of what those who seek a better world want. The slaveowmers may have appropriated others' history and ways, but the problem only came from them denying all people the same credit for the knowledge. All peoples had the same vazt knowledge at one time, even though they labeled the principles differently amd chose to apply them differently. Preventing others from using it only copies the tactics of the Priestly Order which were meant to divide amd keep people trusting the authorities they established more than their own parents (see The Letter of King Leopold II to the Missionaries for their words stating this tactic). To beat the slaveowners, you must allow the exchange to occur and let go of the Ownermind they gave you. All belomgs to all, for a bird does not attack a creature for learning and repeating its call, nor a honey bee for adopting communal systems. Nature doesn't come with ownership of practices, and neither do humans; that is an instilled belief. #EndtheOwnermind

I saw this behavior in a highschool english teacher I had... didn't know why then but it really rubbed me the wrong way and felt somehow racist to me at the time... but my teenage brain couldn't quite wrap around the idea that something that looks good can be so wrong... or that so many of my peers would dissagree with my assessment... not that i talked about it much... but I did have questions and teens have ways of finding answers

I don’t know what the response should be. The bitter part of me wants to just start responding when white people do this like: “oh, wow, it sounds like you’ve learned so much from People of Color, you’re almost a Person of Color yourself, huh?” and just watch them writhe. But I don’t think that’s necessary the move. Without my bitter sharpness though, we need to start shining a light on it.
