When people are questioning your authority it reminds me of 1 Peter 3:15 “but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”

Them. The bishops have handed that down for 2,000 years. If you have a Bishop or a Priest, they stand in personus Christi, aka in the place of Christ. He forgives you. So you’re really telling him your sins. Remember scripture demands we confess our sins. It’s just not a lot of people do it. It’s Saturday. I am going in the next hour. I try to every couple of weeks. Ain’t perfect. Working out my salvation in fear and trembling like scripture teaches. -knowing it’s Christ grace working in me. Peace be with you!
