The video appears to be filmed from near the aircraft’s landing gear area while the massive plane slowly moves across the runway surrounded by thousands of desperate civilians trying to escape the country as Kabul fell to the Taliban. Gunfire, shouting, and panic can be heard in the background as crowds continue running alongside the aircraft despite the danger. Many of the civilians seen surrounding and holding onto the aircraft were later reported to have fallen during takeoff after the C-17 became airborne, making the footage one of the most disturbing perspectives recorded during the evacuation.
