My 91 year old mother who enjoys a full life, lives on her own, drives, has friends and is very active had a breathing issue earlier this year and went full code, so glad she did not have a dnr! Btw, no broken ribs and is living her best life still

I understand the point you were trying to make, and many healthcare professionals understand the reality behind it, but others outside of patient care may not interpret it the same way. Performing a full code on a 94-year-old patient without an advance directive or DNR can be incredibly traumatic for the patient, emotionally difficult for families, and hard on the healthcare team involved. Situations like this are why conversations around end-of-life wishes and patient dignity are so important. You may want to add a little more context to your comment so it is understood as concern for compassionate, appropriate care rather than being misunderstood, especially since these are difficult realities many younger professionals may not yet fully appreciate through experience.

I think if you are not in the medical field, you won’t understand. There is quite a bit of wilder situations than this. It’s always a hard choice to know what the right thing to do is as the POA. Be sure to speak to your loved ones and get a good understanding on what “they” would want.
