Rory had many faults but she’s so overhated for this - it’s her life and she grew up the perfect child obsessed with academically excelling, burnout was inevitable and taking a year out of uni isn’t as crazy as people make out it’s low-key common and whilst loreli’s upset was understandable, cutting Rory off entirely was immature and achieved nothing, she should of respected her decision as an adult

I fully understand Rory’s downfall, and why she took the gap year. Her whole life she had the need to be the perfect child, student, granddaughter, and always was the best in everything she did, so when she finally heard that criticism from a man she admired deeply telling her that she wouldn’t make it in the dream job she had her whole life, she started questioning everything she knew, like every teenager did, only it happened to her later in life, and she wanted support from her mother, and ofc i understand why lorelai don’t support her, but completely cutting contact w her daughter because she disagreed w her life choices is completely unfair and st&pid, and only made Rory lose contact w her more. A mother needs to be there for a her kid even is she completely disagrees w her choices, bc Rory was grown and deserves to make her own choices, and mistakes. And Lorelei, as someone who lost contact W her parents bc of bad life choices was supposed to understand that!!!
