I live in Flanders. I didn't start French at school until I was 12. (Yes, I am that old 😅) Nowadays, in some schools, that starts as early as the first year. I certainly don't think that's bad, considering it isn't the easiest language. The younger they start, the better in think. Now, however, they in Wallonia and Brussels still need to catch up and start teaching Flemish at a young age as well.

I hate that I live in Belgium, I need to learn French, German and English(but Engliah is easy, so yeah...). But you don't even get to choose when, how much or anything you learn those languages, and tbh, it's so random, like, can someone pls explain WHY I need to learn those random languages I'm also never ever gonna use in my life😭😭😭
