Have you read “How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organising” by KC Davis? There is an audio book version too that’s only a few hours long.

This tip is useful, no shoes inside the house so it stay clean, + no eating in the living room only in the kitchen, + upgrade your trash can to a bigger one so you can change it every 3 days or 4

try loading and running the dishwasher before bed, that way in the morning you wake up to no dishes, or get a sink bin to put dirty dishes in.

I understand the nervous system response to the sink. What I think when I see that is perhaps stacking the items might be more visually acceptable for me than piled in the sinks. (That’s not meant to be critical). I’ve totally felt that and the visual overwhelm is a very real thing. 💕

There’s a gal here on TT that puts up videos about “how long does it actually take?” and the psychology behind it is brilliant. Because when we set a timer to find out how long something actually takes, it really does take the anxiety and stress out of doing that particular task away. Because if we knew unloading the dishwasher takes less than five minutes and then loading it takes 15 minutes, our brain is able to process that time a lot easier.

I work in a residential home providing short break care for children with disabilities. During my working hours I strip down and remake beds, hoover, mop, wipe, load the washer and dryer, fold and put away. Can I do this in my own house? No. No I can't. I have no reasonable explanation and I beat myself up every hour of every day. Why can I not just switch on work mode at home??

I suffer with ADHD paralysis. I get so overwhelmed that I can’t even function. Then I sit down and beat myself up for not being able to do something. When I do finally complete a seemingly simple task, it feels amazing. Then I berate myself for not just doing it in the first place. Keep going, sister! You are inspiring me and countless others❤️

My bedroom is my favorite room. I stopped choosing safe, neutral colors and picked a color I actually loved. I painted it Cinnamon Slate and decorated it with a vintage, romantic style in mind. I just love it 🥰

My favorite room is my library. It's where I go to decompress. Dive into a different world with every book I read.

My bedroom is my favorite. I was a bedroom kid because my mother was so neat and tidy, I wasn’t welcome to play in other areas of the house, and I’ve only ever felt safe in my own room. Even as an adult, and I now own my own home, I still tend to finally relax in my bedroom only 😅
