My main complaint is that the earlier ones felt like people were trying to create art and had a deep personal love for the franchise. While now it feels like a cash grab where you can tell which characters are to sell toys and make preview moments and just have a good enough cash grab :/

if you want to justify that last line with deeper meaning it's to show that even though the trade federation is working with the sith they have no true understanding on who they're working with because they're only in it for their own interests, but yeah Star wars dialogue is always super cheesey and it was probably the worst in the prequels when no one knew how to tell George no

According to George Lucas, the writing is like that because it’s very Shakespearean, where the characters say what they’re thinking. Why? So both kids and adults could understand what’s going on.
