This time it surrounds not what the accused CEO-killer allegedly did, but the city-approved access some of his supporters have gotten at court. In the aftermath of his arrest, Mangione supporters would sit in the public section of the courtroom. But in recent months, they have been sitting with other members of the press, after having been issued press passes by the city. Earning a NYC press pass used to be a bit of a challenge, with the NYPD in charge of approval. But the process changed in recent years, and now the mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment is responsible for issuing the passes. With their city-issued press passes dangling, the women, so-called ‘Mangionistas,' used some choice language outside of court, and even suggested the kids of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson kids are better off that he is dead.
