@theneighborhoodtalk: TNHT Staff: @hausofaaron __________________ Neighbors, a Chicago woman is going viral after speaking out during a county board meeting over claims that Black voting rights are under attack. __________________ During the meeting, Jessica Jackson, known as a conservative activist, pushed back against concerns surrounding voting access, telling the room, “Black people’s vote is not in danger, and you know it’s not. I’m 63 years old. I’ve been voting since I was 18… I’ve never had a problem voting!” __________________ She continued by saying people should be thanking her generation for helping secure voting rights instead of “manipulating the Voting Rights Act like something is getting ready to happen to our right to vote when you know that’s not true.” __________________ Jackson also criticized officials for allegedly encouraging fear around voting access, saying, “So now you’re all gonna drag Black people in here, definitely some senior citizens, and have them come up here and talk about how they’re scared to vote… all that junk, when you know it’s not true.” __________________ Her comments come as redistricting efforts continue across the country, with critics arguing that the proposed voting maps could weaken Black voting power and reduce Black representation in Congress. __________________ The discussion also follows a recent Supreme Court decision that weakened parts of the Voting Rights Act, making it harder to challenge voting maps alleged to be racially biased. Thoughts? 👀

Mr Tradesman :
U had me until u said Trump is fighting for the 14th amendment he’s fighting against the 14th amendment, I had to fact check, half the stuff you are saying about Black people and their property being stolen is true but Donald Trump is truly not fighting for us with the 14th amendment so that was false.

I fear this is a clear example of the difference between the black experience in the south vs north, the redistricting that’s happening/ being talked about in southern states is literally taking away representation without having to take away the black peoples right to vote, just look at what’s happening to a majority black district in Tennessee

She is right the Fear Mongering has to stop. There are some states where black folks will experience disadvantages because of various circumstance. BUT… we have to stop making all these excuses, help out your neighbors, to ensure the black community is ready to show up and vote! I agree and disagree!

Black peoples right for fair representation is being taken away by courts. Trump is not fighting for our right to vote by redistricting

So she doesn’t think that redistricting is watering down the Black vote? I admire her passion but she’s off base on voting rights not being destroyed
