@dr.adam.dell: Culture and society subtly, but quite strongly, influences us so that we can find our way in life. As a general rule, we define and measure ourselves according to cultural standards of success and how we compare to others. A person that is becoming "sanctified," however, follows a different guide. This person participates in the culture, while actively living to please God, not society. This is requires prayer and humility and a willingness to do things His way. We conform to Christ and become more generous, kind, forgiving, patient, just, loving, and merciful. This makes us better employees, bosses, parents, partners, and students. The blessings of becoming sanctified cannot be contained. They overflow to all those around us. Culture tells you what to achieve and get so that you can satisfy yourself. Christ sanctifies us that we can be a vessel of goodness while we live to please Him.
