You guys do realize that when he said animal services, he meant the shelter? In Stockton animals get taken to the main shelter to see if they’re chipped and if not they chip and neuter and eventually put up for adoption at the main shelter. If they don’t get adopted at the main shelter, they then go to regular Stockton shelters

Don’t let people guilt you for leaving him with animal services, anything he received after you left was a million times better than what he would have experienced had he continued to lay injured in the middle of the road. Thank you for having compassion to stop for him, you’re a good human being.

yall need to realize that even if this baby got put down, its pain has stopped. its not going to be hit again. it wont cook on the pavement and be thirsty. its at peace.

guys not everybody has the means or ability to tale care of a cat, there is absolutely nothing wrong with pulling the cat off the side of the road and calling animal services to help. This person did exactly what they should have in this situation, kittys in a safer spot. Sometimes its not even necessarily a bad thing that kitty mightve been euthanized, if his injuries are too great its more humane to euthanize than to let them live in pain or in a shelter for the rest of their life.

my compassion for animals, especially cats knows NO bounds. and i think you guys are being quite stupid for attacking this guy. he found this baby and brought him safely out of the road. thats the most most humans COULD do. of course we WANT to do the most. we wanna recreate miracle videos we see on the dodo but the harsh reality is that thats often just not possible. he cannot care for the cat. that could be due to lifestyle or money, and either of those reasons are valid and not changeable for a cat you found on a random day. as convenient as that would be, its just not possible. we don’t know what happened to him after he was taken by a rescue, but chances are he did get put down. his chance at a good life was gone at the time this guy found him. but he will not suffer now. this guy gave him a chance to rest peacefully. his fate was decided, and this guy gave him the coziest path to resting. thank you for what you did.

It's ok, these moments are hard to handle when you're thinking of whether you can give them a good life or not. Just remember this feeling for the next time you see a cat in need, you did what you could and you'll do better the next one
