We did this in 1981 The builder told me it wasn’t necessary. Every other neighbor has a wet basement. Although I have provisions for a sump pump it sits empty and dry more than 40 years later

Use Xypex crystalline waterproofing as an admix in your concrete. Works great against hydrostatic pressure, has crack sealing abilities, concrete protection, and prevents water intrusion.
