What he should have said, & it’s simple customer service: “I’m sorry, but I don’t see your names in the comments section on my end. Let me see what I can do to help resolve this. May I have your reservation number?” Sounds like he needs more training & better customer service.

Ok. As a hotel general manager, I would recommend calling the hotel directly anytime there are special comments or requests attached to a reservation. Reservations may only include notes like this 2 out of 20 times. Legally, the rude gentleman may have been correct, but the way he handled the situation could have been much more professional and courteous. A little kindness and communication go a long way in hospitality. I tell my staff all the time, “Anything can be fixed, except rudeness.”

Sorry that happened to you. Some hotels have a policy that if your name is not on the reservation you can't check in until your name is added by the primary guest
